POSITION DESCRIPTION

TITLE:                                Events Genius – Assistant

REPORTS TO:           Public Relations-Fundraising and Event Manager

 

This is a volunteer position on a flexible schedule. This position has the principal responsibility of assisting the Event Manager in scheduling and organizing public events to raise funds and awareness according to Hands Across the World’s goals and objectives.

 

The success of the Organisation’s reputation and ability to achieve its professional vision of “sustainability” rests on the cultivation of branding, donors, donor trust, confidentiality, and effective communication.

Our organizational vision is to eradicate human trafficking, sexual exploitation and human slave labour. The HATW motto is ‘Prevention through education’ and ‘Empowerment through education’.

This position requires creativity, innovation and a close working relationship with the Public Relations-Fundraising and Event Manager, the Business Relationship Coordinator and the Development Committee of the Board.

 

As with all positions, it is expected that the mission, core values and vision are exemplified by the individual filling this role.

 

Specific Duties:

Fundraising Events

  • Supports the role of Fundraising and Event Manager with logistics, implementation, communication, budgeting and administration.
  • Assists in maintaining events calendar.
  • Sets up a yearly fundraising and event management strategy in cooperation with the Fundraising and Event Manager.
  • Plans, oversees, schedules and executes individual events in conjunction with key volunteers, staff, corporate partners, supporters and community groups. 
  • Uses and implements creative and innovative fundraising and event ideas to present HATW as a forward thinking modern Incorporation that engages a high number of people to follow the HATW vision
  • Schedules and documents pre-event and post event de-briefings.

 

 

Marketing:

  • Creates ‘Thank you’ notices and information newsletters to be send out to donors if required  
  • Assists with the usage of applications such as Gofundraise, Trello, Justgiving, Meetup, Mailchimp, Twitter, Facebook etc.
  • Implements own ideas, constructive amendments to the existing strategy and suggestions (we want to pick your brain too!)

 

Development Committee

  • Attends staff and volunteer committee meetings.
  • Assists with the preparation of development reports and minutes.
  • Works with members to fulfill specific committee assignments if required.
